Signals drum count has expired (Read below for reset info) |
Drum Count Reset: Hold the Exposure key while turning on power, then release & press the Exposure key again, holding it until some lights go out on the display (about 10 seconds). Wait for the machine to come to ‘ready’ & you’re good to go.
Other Faults:
- Machine sits idle when print is pressed (may be clicking)... If the toner light is not on but the machine sits idle and continues running, the machine may simply be looking for toner.
- Toner light stays on after new cartridge is installed... After the machine is finished cycling, if it still calls for toner, turn the power off and back on for the 2nd cycling. New toner cartridges have fresh developer which may need extra toning up. This can be true of both OEM & refilled cartridges.
- Very dark copies... Can be caused by a bad drum ground. Check continuity between ground (machine chassis) and the uncoated part of the drum. If you find no continuity, the drum clip may have come loose inside the drum (or is bent out of shape), or the contacts are dirty.
Entering Diagnostics: Remove the access cover on the left side of the machine to get to VR202, TP210, & TP211. Turn off power and short test points TP210 & TP211 together. Turn on the power.
Adjustments:
- Lead Edge Registration Adjustment: Enter diagnostics as above. Turn VR202 until the ‘Paper Misfeed’ indicator comes on steady (45?). Then turn VR202 counterclockwise to increase the Lead Edge deletion or clockwise to decrease. Press the ‘Exposure Key’, the ‘Auto’ indicator lights. Make a copy & repeat this procedure until you get what you want.
- Exposure Adjustment: Enter diagnostics as above. Press the ‘Exposure’ button. The ‘Toner’ indicator will blink. Turn VR202 until the ‘Toner’ indicator comes on steady (45 degrees). Turn VR202 counterclockwise to decrease the exposure (darken the image) or clockwise to increase exposure. Press ‘Exposure’. The ‘Light’ indicator lights and the exposure lamp comes on (auto calibration begins). When the ‘Auto’ indicator blinks, press the ‘Exposure’ button again. The ‘Ready’ indicator lights. To then adjust the Auto Exposure… press the ‘Exposure’ button. The ‘Toner’ indicator blinks. Press ‘Exposure’ again, the ‘Light’ indicator lights and the exposure lamp comes on (auto calibration). Press ‘Exposure’ once it’s done with the auto calibration. To exit diagnostics, turn off the power & remove the jumper wire from TP210 & TP211.
