DIAGNOSTICS:
To enter diagnostics: Turn on the power and within 4 seconds press the following sequence: 'Clear', 'Exposure Mode', 'Clear', 'Exposure Mode' (Exposure Mode is the button on the far left). The console will go completely blank.
To enter a code: Select the first part of the code using the copy quantity buttons, followed by the 'Print' button, then the second part of the code followed by the 'Print' button again.
To exit diagnostics: Press 'Clear' repeatedly or turn the power off.
*To clear a fuser code:(14) Enter diagnostics, select '14' followed by 'Print'... exit diagnostics.
**To Clear a U2 code:(16) Enter diagnostics, select '16' followed by 'Print' ... exit diagnostics.
Testing Switches & Sensors: (Input Component Codes)
In diagnostic mode, enter the code for the component, press 'Print', then
manually actuate the switch or sensor and watch for the Corresponding Lamp to turn on & off.

Checking Clutches, Motors, Lamps, Solenoids & Corotrons: (Output
Component Codes)
Use these codes to test a component such as a clutch or motor. Enter the code followed by
'Print' to activate a component. Most components activate for 1 second
(Exposure lamp lights for 5)

Then select the magnification you want to observe... the second time 'Print' is pressed, optics scan at the speed corresponding to the magnification selected. - The Drum Cartridge Lamp should light whenever the scanner reaches the home position. |

Checking Counters
Checking the Total Copy Count:(22-5) Enter diagnostics, select '22',
'Print' followed by '5', 'Print'...The copy count will flash
3 digits at a time for a total of six digits (for example: 012 345 would indicate 12,345
copies).
(Can also be done by the customer by holding the 'Clear' button for 7 seconds)
Checking the Drum Cartridge (CRU) Count:(22-12) Enter diagnostics, select '22', 'Print', followed by '12', 'Print'...The copy count will flash 3 digits at a time for a total of six digits (for example: 002 345 would indicate 2,345 copies).
Drum Count Reset:(24-7) Enter diagnostics, select '24', 'Print', followed by '7','Print', followed by 'Print' again. This resets the drum count to zero.
Adjusting the Developer Bias:
(WARNING: Unplug the machine before you hook up meter leads on the Power Supply PWB).
Set your meter to 4000 VDC. Connect the '+' side of your meter to CN10, Pin 1 (CN10-1)...
connect the '-' lead to CN10, pin 2 (CN10-2). Enter diagnostics. With the Toner Cartridge installed,
select Code 25-1...When 'Print' is pressed, the Main Motor will run and the Developer Bias will
be present for 30 seconds. Adjust by turning VR121 (also on the Power Supply PWB), look for a
voltage of -380VDC +/-15VDC.
Adjusting the Grid Bias:(8-3 & 8-2)
(WARNING: Unplug the machine before you hook up meter leads on the Power Supply PWB).
Set your meter to 4000VDC. Connect '+' to CN11, Pin 3 (CN11-3) on the Power Supply PWB, and '-'
to the chassis. Enter diagnostics. You'll want to adjust for the "Low" Mode first....
Select Code 8-3...When 'Print' is pressed, the Grid Bias (for 'Low' mode) will be present for 30
seconds. Adjust VR141 on the Power Supply PWB for a voltage of -420VDC +/-20VDC,
Select Code 8-2...When 'Print' is pressed, the Grid Bias (for 'High' mode) will be present for 30
seconds. Adjust VR142 on the Power Supply PWB for a voltage of -580VDC +/-20VDC,
Side Edge Erase:(XD-120)(26-43)
Enter diagnostics... Enter '26', 'Print'...'43', 'Print'...
the current setting will be displayed.
Range is 0 to 10 with .5mm increments. (0=0mm, 10=5.0mm) 4 is the default (2.0mm). To change
the setting, press the Copy Quantity Select 'ones' button till you get what you want, then
press 'Print'.
Fuser Temperature Adjustment:(43-1)
Enter diagnostics... Enter '43','Print'...'1','Print'...
the current setting will be displayed.
0=175 (default)... 1=180c...2=185c...3=190c...4=195c...5=200c. Default is 3 (190c) for all
models except the XD155 which has 4 (195c) as it's default.If you want to change the
setting, use the copy quantity button & press 'Print' to lock in your
selection.
Fuser Temperature Adjustment for Multiple Copy Runs:(43-4)
After 20 copies, the machine is designed to lower the fusing temperature to a preset
value.
Enter diagnostics... Enter '43','Print'...'2','Print'...
the current setting is displayed.
0=155...1=160...2=165...3=170...4=175...5=180. Default is 2(165c) for all models except
the XD155 which has 3 (170c) as it's default. Change using the copy quantity
select button & press 'Print' to lock in your selection.
Exposure Adjustment:(46-1...for SDF=51-6)
Should be done after replacing Exposure lamp, Exposure Sensor, Exposure PWB, or Main PWB
Magnification Adjustments:(48-1) Ranges are from 00 to 99, Default=50.
Registration & Deletion Adjustments:(50-1) Ranges are 00 to 99, Default=50
Front to Rear Registration (Center Offset) Adjustments: (50-10) Ranges are 00 to 99, Default=50
Registration Buckle: (51-2) Ranges from 00 to 99 Default=50

CUSTOMER PROGRAMMABLE SETTINGS:
Entering Program Mode & Changing Settings:
To change any of the programmable settings, consult the table below... First enter
'Program Mode' by pressing the 'Image Quality Button' until the 'Toner Save' lamp is lit.
Then press the 'Image Quality Button' again and hold it for 4 to 6 seconds. The 'Auto' lamp
lights up & 3 lamps flash. Use the 'Copy Quantity Buttons' to select the program # to be
changed, then press the 'Print' button. The current setting for the Program will flash. Press
the 'Quantity Select Button' to select the new setting and press 'Print' to store your new
setting. Press the 'Image Quality Button' to leave the Program Mode.
